The Impact of Mobile Device Design on the Development of Mobile Gaming

The design of mobile devices has significantly impacted the development of mobile gaming, leading to profound changes in the gaming experience. This paper analyzes the evolution from early physical-key mobile phones to modern touchscreen smartphones, examining the influence of mobile device design on the development of mobile gaming. It also outlines the design principles for mobile games. The research findings indicate that as mobile device design has evolved, game development has progressively adapted to and capitalized on new interfaces and interaction forms. However, given that mobile phones are primarily communication tools, game design should prioritize the functionality of the phone before considering gaming features. The conclusion emphasizes that to enhance user experience, mobile game design should innovate in operational modes while ensuring that the communication functionality is preserved, thereby also meeting users’ demands for portability and convenience.
