Cost-Driven Regulation and Configuration of Energy Storages Providing Fast Frequency Response for Large-Scale Wind Farm Integration
Frequency regulation plays a key role in power systems, especially with the increasing use of renewable and distributed energy resources. This article looks into wind farms and the use of energy storage. The possibility of these storage resources helping with frequency regulation is explored, though their effectiveness may decrease if they make up a large part of the system's regulation capacity. The article shows methods for planning energy storage in wind farms, considering how they react to frequency changes. Importance is given to the need for combined planning and setting up of wind turbine control methods along with energy storage resources.
