Impact of Current Sensor System Dynamics on Current Measurements and Novel Compensation Scheme on dq-Reference Frame
This article analyzes the impact of current sensor system dynamics on measurement errors in the dq (synchronous) reference frame and proposes a novel solution to minimize these adverse effects. It is mathematically demonstrated that the sensor dynamics not only cause delays due to the sensor's bandwidth limitations but also introduce an additional measurement error, referred to as dynamic cross-coupling (DXC) error. To address this, a novel compensation method, termed the DXC error decoupling scheme, is proposed. This proposed method minimizes the impact of the sensor system's dynamics and effectively eliminates the steady-state error caused by the DXC error. In simulations, the closed-loop controlled motor drive exhibited a 4.3% reduction in torque compared to the reference torque due to the steady-state measurement errors primarily caused by the DXC error. However, when the proposed DXC error decoupling scheme was applied, the generated torque closely matched the reference torque, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed current measurement error compensation scheme.
