Temperature Calculation Method for Transposed Armature Windings and its Verification Through Direct Measurement of Strand Temperatures
A method of calculating temperatures-by using a large network solver-in transposed armature windings of a turbine generator was developed. To verify the accuracy of the calculation method and investigate the highest temperature of a turbine generator, temperatures of high-voltage strands in windings were directly measured. The measured temperatures agreed quite well with the calculated values. They indicated that the temperature distribution in generators can have a wider range than detectable temperatures.
