MPPT Control Method for Micro Wind Turbine System with Newton Method

In recent years, the demand for renewable energy has been increasing rapidly. One of them, micro wind power generation systems are not yet widely installed, but are believed to have great potential. In oder to positively promote the installation of these systems, it is necessary to have a maximum power point tracking control that is inexpensive and operates quickly. In this paper, we propose a maximum power point tracking control method for micro wind turbines. The proposed method realizes a high-speed MPPT control that can respond to wind speed fluctuations using the Newton method. Specifically, the differential of the wind turbine's output characteristics is calculated, and the Newton method is applied to the differential curve to track the maximum power point. The simulation results show that the proposed method can quickly track wind speed fluctuations.
