A Novel Model for Hybrid Stepper Motors Considering Magnetic Saturation
This work establishes a novel mathematical model for two-phase hybrid stepper motors, with a particular emphasis on a new perspective of magnetic saturation. This approach provides a more accurate representation of the nonlinear magnetic saturation effects, which are crucial to stepper motor performance. Additionally, general theories of air-gap magnetic field modulation are synthesized into a structured development process, which is extended to three-dimensional structures of hybrid stepper motors. By incorporating with the proposed method accounting for magnetic saturation, a magnetic field modulation model representing the two-phase hybrid stepper motor is developed. Finally, a comparison between finite element analysis simulations and the proposed mathematical model confirms that the model accurately captures the effects of magnetic saturation.
