Review on Frequency Stabilization for Renewable Energy Power Grid in Context of New Power System
As the new type power system is being constructed, there is a significant trend towards extensive-scale centralized grid integration of renewable energy sources, accompanied by extensive operation of UHVDC transmission projects, the risk of high-power disturbance events increases. Meanwhile, the varying distribution of inertia among different regions has a notable impact on the grid's frequency stability, creating disparities that pose a serious challenge and grave threat to the overall power system stability. The changes and challenges brought through the renewable energy occupied a large part integrated into power grid are analyzed in the first. On this basis, the various control strategies aimed at supporting grid frequency through active power contribution from photovoltaic (PV) and wind power sources are elaborated, focusing on the renewable energy sources themselves, and a comparison is made of the advantages, disadvantages, and application scopes of various frequency modulation techniques. Finally, the outlook for future research on frequency stability within the context of the new type power system is presented, separately considering the perspectives of renewable energy and the grid.
