Optimal Capacity Allocation Strategy of BESS Considering the Frequency Regulation of Wind Turbine Generation and BESS

With the continuous grid connection of renewable energy sources, the problem of system frequency stability becomes more and more prominent. Since the fast adjustment and bidirectional characteristics, battery energy storage systems (BESS) can reduce the impact of wind power fluctuation on grid frequency. It is imperative to allocate BESS economically while ensuring system frequency stability. Under the consequences of wind-generated power permeability and the economy and performance of frequency regulation of wind-BESS, a method of BESS capacity allocation considering the frequency regulation of wind-BESS is suggested. Firstly, Constructing the frequency response model of framework with frequency regulation of wind; secondly, the mathematical schema of BESS capacity allocation is constructed by integrating the frequency regulation effect of the system and the economy of BESS capacity allocation, combining the theory of energy storage life cycle and taking frequency regulation of power grid and the operation state of wind and BESS as constraints; finally, the PSO is combined to rectify the BESS capacity allocation schemes in different scenarios. Simulation results show that the BESS volume allocation method introduced can reduce the BESS capacity allocation and required cost by considering wind power frequency regulation while ensuring system security.
