Optimized Scheduling of Water-Photovoltaic-Pumped Storage at Multiple Time Scales Considering Pumped Storage Participation

Addressing the issues of volatility and uncertainty in the output of new energy sources such as PV power, a multi-timescale optimized scheduling strategy for a combined water-PV-pumped hydro energy storage generation system is proposed. Initially, by utilizing the adaptable control features of pumped storage, the variability of photovoltaic generation can be substantially curbed, which in turn alleviates the strain on the grid during periods of peak demand management. Secondly, based on PV output forecasts across different timescales, a joint scheduling model incorporating day-ahead optimization and intra-day rolling corrections is established. Finally, simulation results verify that this strategy not only meets system peak shaving requirements but also effectively enhances the utilization rate of new energy sources, reduces reserve costs, and promotes the friendly grid integration of new energy sources.
