Investigation of Angle Displacements in a Novel Dual-Three-Phase Equinumerous-Slot-Pole PMSM
This paper proposes a novel dual three-phase (DTP) equinumerous-slot-pole (ESP) permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) topology and investigates its angle displacement characteristics. The proposed DTP ESP PMSM consists of multiple unit DTP machines, inherently possessing an asymmetric structure. This topology allows for flexible winding configurations and increased feasible angle displacement options compared to traditional DTP PMSMs. Using a 30S30P DTP ESP PMSM as an example, the paper examines four different angle displacement configurations (0/12/16/28 deg). By angle displacement, the average torque increases by 2.5% (12 deg), 2.9% (16 deg), and 5.1% (28 deg), while reducing torque ripple by approximately 50% (28 deg). Compared to traditional 12S10P DTP PMSM, the proposed machine exhibits about 8% higher torque output. Additionally, the paper verifies the performance of the proposed machine under three-phase open-circuit (OC) conditions. This research contributes a novel DTP PMSM topology, offering new design possibilities for high-performance multi-phase machines.
