A Novel SMO Based Diagnosis Method for Interturn Short-Circuits in SRM by Unaligned Inductance Identification
The interturn short-circuits (ITSC) fault of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) can worsen the torque ripple and noise problems. And the ITSC fault will expand, leading to winding damage. In this paper, a method for diagnosing interturn short circuits for SRM is proposed, which uses the sliding mode observer (SMO) to identify the unaligned inductance of SRM online. To analyze the influence of interturn short-circuits on the electromagnetic characteristics of SRM, the finite element method (FEM) was used to simulate the electromagnetic characteristics of SRM with ITSC fault. Based on FEM simulation results and SRM electromagnetic equation, design the SMO for online identification of unaligned inductances. Compare the identified inductance with the healthy inductance to achieve ITSC fault diagnosis. Simulation results show that the proposed method can realize SRM ITSC fault diagnosis quickly and accurately, and in a simple way.
