Capacity Optimization of Renewable Energy Generation System with Pumped-Hydrogen Coupling Energy Storage
Recently, the construction of a large number of renewable energy power generation systems(REPGs) has put forward a higher demand for the regulation capacity of pumped storage stations(PSS). However, the expansion of PSS is hindered by geographical constraints. By integrating with an energy storage system utilizing electrolysis-based hydrogen production and hydrogen fuel cell combustion, the regulatory potential of PSS can be further exploited. Hence, a system containing pumped storage coupled with hydrogen energy storage is proposed in this paper. First, a capacity allocation optimization model with the objective of maximizing the daily operating revenue is established. Then, the operating characteristics of pumped storage power plant, electrolytic hydrogen tank, and hydrogen fuel cell are considered to derive the optimal capacity allocation. Finally, case studies based on a typical system in western China are employed to verify the proposed capacity configuration scheme can markedly elevate the renewable energy consumption rate, improve the energy storage regulation capability, the economic benefits of REPGs.
