Voltage Overshoot Mitigation for PMSM Voltage Closed-Loop Field-Weakening Control Based on a Low-Pass Feedforward Compensator
The voltage closed-loop field-weakening control is an effective way to extend the speed of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). However, the serious voltage overshoot always exists in the transition process entering the field-weakening region. To alleviate the voltage overshoot, this paper proposed a voltage overshoot mitigation strategy for PMSM field-weakening control based on a feedforward compensator. The core idea is decreasing the q-axis current when the q-axis voltage exceeds its reference. Through the frequency domain analysis, the feedforward compensator with the input of the voltage error is established, which is featured by a low-pass filter. The proposed method realized the voltage overshoot mitigation and the smooth transition according to the simulation and experimental results.
