Fabrication and Implementation of an Automated Movable-Hybrid Solar Dryer with Renewable Energy, South-East Nigeria

This project is a development of an automated solar dryer using renewable energy that represents a significant advancement in sustainable agriculture and food preservation. This innovative system harnesses solar power to efficiently dry agricultural products, that reduces reliance on conventional energy sources and minimizes environmental impact. The automated controls regulate temperature and humidity within the drying chamber, that ensures optimal drying conditions and improves product quality. The Solar panels provide the primary energy source, while the installed battery is the backup system that ensures continuous operation during low sunlight periods. The dryer is equipped with sensors that monitor environmental conditions and adjust the drying process in real-time, enhancing efficiency and consistency. This technology is particularly beneficial for large-scale farmers, offering a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution to reduce post-harvest losses. The integration of renewable energy into the drying process contributes to energy savings and supports sustainable farm practices. Field tests have demonstrated the system's effectiveness in preservation of variety of crops, extending shelf life, and improving food security. Overall, this automated solar dryer exemplifies the potential of efficient renewable energy technology to transform traditional agricultural practices in Umuokanne Village, Owerri, South-East Nigeria.
