Design Proposal Based on Characteristic Analysis of Permanent Magnet Utilization Ratio in Dual Rotor IPMSM
In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor with dual rotors in terms of the high power density and the power at high speed region. Moreover, the rotating flux is eliminated by decrease in the iron loss due to the removed back yoke in the stator. First, we compare the aforementioned performance between the dual rotor and single rotor types of permanent magnet synchronous motor. Subsequently, the design characteristics according to the ratio of the permanent magnets inserted in Bar-type inner and Bar-type outer rotors analyzed. The case of V-type outer rotors also reviewed, and the design method considered with the characteristic of IPMSM with the dual rotors is proposed.
