Design and Analysis of Variable Flux Motor with Rotatable Magnet
This paper proposes a new design for a variable flux motor (VFM) that features a rotatable permanent magnet (PM) in the rotor. The design includes a spinning core in each rotor hole to rotate the PM, allowing motor characteristics to vary with the PM's angle. However, maintaining the PM at a specific angle is challenging due to the torque on the spinning core. To address this, we analyze the motor torque and spinning core torque using 2-D FEM magnetic field analysis to determine the optimal radius for the spinning core.
