An Improved Deadbeat Direct Torque and Flux Control of Five-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

This paper presents a deadbeat direct torque and flux control (DB-DTFC) strategy for five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs), aiming to resolve the issues of unstable switching frequencies and suboptimal external responses observed in traditional direct torque control (DTC) systems. The strategy uses a discretized motor model to predict upcoming switching cycle currents, enabling swift torque and flux adjustments. It incorporates a stator current observer for accurate flux and torque calculations and employs an offline recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm to refine inductance estimates, improving controller sensitivity. The proposed strategy replaces traditional near two vector space vector pulse width modulation (NTV-SVPWM) with near four-vector SVPWM (NFV-SVPWM) in five-phase PMSM, reducing harmonics and improving overall performance. Simulations and comparisons are finished in Simulink to validate the proposed strategy.
