Fault-Tolerant Control for Power Converter in Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) Applications
If an error occurs in one or more phases of the converter, the shaft torque will decrease, resulting in a reduction in speed. Additionally, the motor will vibrate and produce significant noise when operating intermittently. This research investigates a fault-tolerant circuit for an asymmetric H-bridge converter. The experimental setup includes a 3-phase switched reluctance motor with 12 stator poles and 8 rotor poles, an asymmetric H-bridge converter circuit utilizing a dSPACE DS1202 for processing, and a 48 V power supply. The accuracy of the proposed fault-tolerant circuit was confirmed through experiments, specifically when the switch in phase B or C of the 3-phase switched reluctance motor opened. The motor was able to return to normal operation.
