Study on Torque Ripple Reduction of Asymmetric Flux Barrier Using Topology Optimization and Frozen Permeability Method
In this paper, detail analysis of the asymmetric flux barrier was conducted. Previous studies have reported that torque performance of permanent magnet motors can be improved using asymmetric flux barriers. However, its mechanism has often unclear, and further case studies need to be conducted. In this paper, symmetric and asymmetric flux barrier were optimized using topology optimization and frozen permeability method. Numerical validation showed the relationship between cogging and load torques is important for understanding the mechanism of asymmetric flux barriers. Moreover, experimental verification was performed to verify the validity of the numerical verification
