Wideband Antenna for Radio Frequency Energy Harvesting System
This paper presents a wideband antenna for a radio frequency energy harvesting system. A wideband antenna of range of 1GHz -3GHz was designed, simulated, and optimized using Ansys High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) simulation software, implemented using Flame Retardant-4 (FR4) substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4, and tangent of 0.0002. Using Ansys HFSS, the antenna was designed with a resonant frequency of 1.8GHz. To enhance the bandwidth of the antenna, slots were cut on the patch and ground of the antenna. The antenna was matched to a 50 Ω impedance. The simulated and measured return loss (S11) results of the antenna show a good return loss, at S11<-10dB and Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR)<2 within the frequency ranges of interest.
