Single Input Interval Type 2 Fuzzy Logic Proportional Integral Controller for Two-Stage Battery Control

This paper proposes the Single Input Interval Type 2 Fuzzy Logic Proportional Integral (SIIT2FLPI) controller, designed for regulating a battery using a two-stage control approach. With the rapid integration of renewable energy sources and the increasing prevalence of electric vehicles, efficient battery management systems are crucial for optimizing energy utilization. The proposed SIIT2FLPI controller combines single input interval type-2 fuzzy logic control with the classic Proportional Integral (PI) control method, enhancing the regulation of battery charging and discharging processes. Through simulation and comparative analysis using the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) metric, the performance of the SIIT2FLPI controller is evaluated. Results indicate a 31% improvement in battery current control efficacy compared to the classic PI controller. This research contributes to advancing battery management systems, providing a solution to enhance energy management amidst evolving energy landscapes and technological advancements.
