Review on Modelling the Life Span of a Rubber V-Belt in Industrial Machinery
Rubber V-belts are critical components in industrial machinery, responsible for transmitting power between pulleys. Understanding and predicting the lifespan of rubber V-belts is crucial for optimizing maintenance schedules, reducing downtime, and improving overall operational efficiency. This review paper plans to give an overview of the existing literature on modelling the lifespan of rubber V-belts in industrial machinery. The review explores the various factors that influence the lifespan of rubber V-belts, including load, operating conditions, maintenance practices, and belt quality. It examines how these factors interact and contribute to belt wear, degradation, and eventual failure. Additionally, the review investigates the role of different materials, such as natural rubber and synthetic compounds, in influencing the lifespan of V-belts. The review highlights the importance of modelling techniques for predicting the lifespan of rubber V-belts. It explores different modelling approaches utilized in the literature, including empirical models, analytical methods, and computational simulations. The outcomes from the review improved the mindset about the factors that influence the lifespan of rubber V-belts in industrial machinery. The insights provided can aid engineers, maintenance personnel, and researchers in developing more effective maintenance strategies, enhancing the reliability of belt systems, and optimizing overall operational efficiency in industrial applications.
