IoT-Based Integrated Household Gas Monitoring System

Efficient management of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) consumption is crucial for ensuring safety, preventing unexpected gas depletion, and optimizing resource usage. This paper presents the development and implementation of an IoT-based integrated household LPG gas monitoring and safety system designed to enhance residential safety, convenience, and efficiency in LPG management. The system integrates MQ6 gas sensors, a servo motor for automatic shutoff, a microcontroller (ESP32), and the Blynk IoT platform to provide real-time monitoring, leak detection, and remote-control capabilities. The system demonstrated high sensitivity in detecting gas leaks, with an accuracy rate of 90% or higher. The automatic shutoff functionality was reliable, with a response time of 60 seconds as programmed. The system also accurately tracked gas consumption, with a very high precision. The system offers a user-friendly interface for real-time monitoring and remote control via a mobile app. Users can receive real-time alerts, monitor gas levels, and control the gas valve remotely, enhancing both safety and convenience. Robust security measures, including encrypted data transmission and authentication mechanisms, ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the system. This project successfully addresses the challenges of LPG gas monitoring and management, providing a scalable and adaptable solution for various applications. Future work may focus on enhancing predictive analytics, integrating additional sensors, and expanding the system to industrial and large-scale commercial settings.
