UWB Anisotropic Cross Polarization Conversion Metasurface with Low Sensitivity to Incident Angle
A novel compact ultra-wideband (UWB) metasurface is designed and simulated for cross polarization conversion (CPC) with minimal changes observed across different incident angles. The proposed anisotropic metasurface achieves an excellent polarization conversion ratio (PCR) exceeding 90% across the ultra-wideband spectrum. The metasufrace consists of coupled split-ring-resonators (SRRs) and a metallic ground plane, and it is built on RT/Duroid 5880 to supports high frequency. It demonstrates an efficient cross polarization conversion ranging from 13.5 GHz to 32.7 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 83% at 3 dB. Furthermore, the PCR above 90% operates within a bandwidth from 14.6 GHz to 29.4 GHz, with a fractional bandwidth of 67%. The proposed design maintains a PCR above 80% for most of the frequency range, even as the incident wave angle varies up to 45°. The metasurface unit size is 3.3 × 3.3 mm2,
