Longitudinal Trajectories and Predictors of Conflict Resolution Skills in Adolescents

This study aims to identify the developmental trajectories of conflict resolution skills in adolescents and the factors predicting these trajectories. The research tracked patterns of change in conflict resolution skills in five years, examining the influence of various factors on these trajectories. Results shows that there are three different latent groups in conflict resolution skills in adolescents; low-level-decreasing, mid-level-maintaing, and high-level-increasing respectively. Regarding factors predicting a different latent group membership, levels of peer relationships, parental autonomy support, social support, and social withdrawal, along with gender difference and community size where adolescents live, have a significant impact on each dependent variable. Findings highlights the importance of collaborative support from families, schools, and communities to foster adolescents’ conflict resolution skills.
