Complexation and Fluorescence Enhancement of Bay-site Carboxyl Modified Perylene Dimide with Calcium Ion
On December 27, 2024, a team of experts led by GU Dandan, CHEN Jia, SUN Bin from the School of State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials published an article in the 发光学报, introducing its research progress in the field of fluorescence enhancement. The team synthesized a perylene diimide derivative, PDI-COOH, which showed distinctive enhanced fluorescence when combined with calcium ion in THF/H2O solution. They studied the assembly and fluorescence behavior of PDI-COOH/Ca2+ under different hydration states, proposing the fluorescence emission mechanism of PDI-COOH/Ca2+ in THF/H2O and THF. This work reveals a novel strategy of aggregated state fluorescence enhancement and highlights the important role of water in molecular fluorescence emission and assembly.
