Multi-Criteria Method as a Performance Indicator in Waste Management in Special Works of Art

Objective: The objective of this study is to develop and apply the multicriteria method as a tool to assist in the management of solid waste (SW) from special works of art. The aim is to assist managers in making appropriate decisions to minimize environmental impacts sustainably. Theoretical Framework: Special works of art (OAE), such as bridges, are civil construction projects contributing to the country's economic and social development. However, during construction, improper disposal of solid waste can have serious impacts on the environment, requiring a tool to assist professionals and managers in making decisions regarding the management of waste produced on the site. Method: The methodology adopted for this research consisted of a bibliographic review, development and application of the Delphi method, and consultation with experts in the field via Google forms. The questions on the form were closed, but suggestions were available to improve the indicators related to the management of OAE waste based on environmental, economic, social and legal criteria. Subsequently, the questionnaires were applied together with an interaction matrix in the on-site investigations of these OAE in the Cuiabá lowlands region, in the municipalities of Cuiabá and Rosário Oeste - MT. Results and Discussion: The results obtained revealed that the application of the multicriteria method as a tool to assist in the management of solid waste from OAE constructions was efficient when based on environmental, economic, social criteria and legal aspects. It was found that there were changes in APP areas and landscapes due to irregular deposits of RCC in the municipalities investigated. Research Implications: The tool created is promising for the sector, encompassing the detection and analysis of environmental effects in the planning and execution phases of the work. This tool is especially relevant given the lack of resources that assist both regulatory bodies and construction companies in managing the waste generated. Originality/Value: The study contributes to the engineering field, mainly due to the lack of archived data as previous history for comparison of waste management and management with other OAE construction projects.
