Frequency Response Analysis of Magnetic Coupling and Magnetic Gear

Magnetic couplings and magnetic gears have the attractive feature of transferring torque without mechanical contact. However, most studies focus on steady- state characteristics, while the frequency characteristics of torque remain unclear. This paper presents a frequency response analysis of a magnetic coupling and a magnetic gear. It shows that the frequency characteristics exhibit a resonance frequency, and the torque ripple is not transferred to the output rotor in high-frequency regions.

Abstract

Magnetic couplings and magnetic gears have the attractive feature of transferring torque without mechanical contact. However, most studies focus on steady- state characteristics, while the frequency characteristics of torque remain unclear. This paper presents a frequency response analysis of a magnetic coupling and a magnetic gear. It shows that the frequency characteristics exhibit a resonance frequency, and the torque ripple is not transferred to the output rotor in high-frequency regions.
