A Novel High-Speed Solid Rotor Induction Motor with Equidirectional Toroidal Rectangular Winding

This article proposes a novel high-speed solid rotor induction motor with equidirectional toroidal rectangular winding (EDTRW-HSSRIM). The novelty of the proposed motor lies in its ability to achieve high power density through a high slot fill factor, while also addressing challenges associated with numerous solder joints and the complex processing of Hair-pin and I-pin structures. Firstly, understanding the operating principle of this motor is fundamental to its design. Subsequently, observing the performance of the motor with various slot numbers, widths, and heights by 2D-finite element (2D-FEM), which facilitates the design of an appropriate stator structure for winding placement. Furthermore, to comprehensively understand the performance, a 2D-FEM analysis is conducted. Finally, the simulation results validate the feasibility of the newly proposed motor and indicate that AC copper loss of the EDTRW-HSSRIM at high speeds is substantial.
