Modeling and Control of a Hybrid Power System for Electric Propulsion Aircraft

This paper proposes a novel Hybrid Electric Propulsion System (HEPS) architecture for electric propulsion aircraft, containing a Fuel Cell (FC), a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG), and a Li-ion battery. Through the coordination of these three sources, the system can meet the requirements of high-power discharge and efficient energy storage, thereby satisfying the aircraft's power demands across a range of operating conditions. All power sources are connected to a DC bus in parallel through the corresponding converters to supply the load. This paper presents modeling and analysis of each power source and converter in the system separately. By simulating the system under different control strategies, the results validate the feasibility of the modeling, the load-sharing performance of the HEPS, and the system stability.
