A Precise Rotor Flux Estimator for a Sensorless Dual Three-Phase SPMSM

Rotor flux exhibits a temperature-dependency property and finds application in temperature monitoring. Herein, an enhanced rotor flux identification method for sensorless dual three-phase surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (DTP-SPMSM) is introduced. Firstly, sensorless control and rotor flux estimation are achieved through the utilization of the first set of three-phase windings, aided by a sliding mode observer (SMO). Subsequ8ently, the estimated flux is fed to a resistance estimator, which utilizes the recursive least square (RLS) method to compute the flux compensation, by leveraging the second set of three-phase windings. This approach enhances the accuracy of the rotor flux estimation and simultaneously improves the reliability of the sensorless drive. Ultimately, the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through both simulation and experimental results.
