Experimental Verification of Discontinuous Current Mode for Boost Inverters

This paper investigates discontinuous current mode (DCM) operation of an inductor current for a single-phase boost inverter, which consists of two bidirectional choppers. The design in this paper considers boost and buck operations of each chopper with a low capacitor voltage and reduces a required inductance by applying the DCM. Experimental results demonstrate effectiveness of the investigated control method by the experimental circuit of 100 V and 200 W.

Abstract

This paper investigates discontinuous current mode (DCM) operation of an inductor current for a single-phase boost inverter, which consists of two bidirectional choppers. The design in this paper considers boost and buck operations of each chopper with a low capacitor voltage and reduces a required inductance by applying the DCM. Experimental results demonstrate effectiveness of the investigated control method by the experimental circuit of 100 V and 200 W.
