Design of Direct Drive Dual 3-phase Permanent Magnet Generator for Ship-Mounted Wind Power Applications Considering Redundancy

Offshore wind power generation has emerged as a significant renewable energy source due to its cost-effectiveness, environmental sustainability, and ability to harness steady ocean winds. However, traditional offshore systems pose challenges such as ecological impact and high installation costs. This paper proposes a novel approach by introducing a small wind power generation system mounted on ships to utilize wind energy during their operations. The system's design focuses on easy maintenance and management, employing a direct drive system and redundancy measures to ensure uninterrupted power generation. In this study, the system's performance in simulated offshore wind conditions was validated through electromagnetic and thermal analysis of the generator's dual three-phase and three-phase operation.
