Study of the Basic Charging Characteristics in the Vertical Linear Vibration Power Generator

This paper examines the charging characteristics of an Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC) in a vertical linear vibration power generator. This power generator generates power by inputting potential energy. The power generation waveform is asymmetric with respect to positive and negative phases, and it exhibits damping. Rectification and smoothing are performed to charge the EDLC. In this study, a Half Wave Rectifier Circuit(HWRC), Full Bridge Rectifier Circuit(FBRC), and Doubler Voltage Rectifier Circuit(DVRC) are used as charging circuits, and the optimum parameters for each circuit are analyzed. The validity of the analysis and the usefulness of the circuits are confirmed through experiments. The results showed that using the DVRC in this study increased the charge energy to the EDLC by up to 82% compared to a HWRC, indicating its usefulness.
