Static Torque Characteristics of SRM with a Three-Dimensional Gap Structure

We propose SRM with a Three-Dimensional Gap Structure to improve the motor efficiency of SRM. The Three-Dimensional Gap Structure is expected to improve motor efficiency by reducing the magnetic resistance through the addition of Axial-Gap with an irregularity in the gap section. In this paper, magnetostatic analysis is performed using the finite element method for the proposed SRM and a general radial structure SRM, and the static torque is calculated. The static torque of the prototype SRM is also measured, and the causes of the error between the analysis and measurement values are discussed.

Abstract

We propose SRM with a Three-Dimensional Gap Structure to improve the motor efficiency of SRM. The Three-Dimensional Gap Structure is expected to improve motor efficiency by reducing the magnetic resistance through the addition of Axial-Gap with an irregularity in the gap section. In this paper, magnetostatic analysis is performed using the finite element method for the proposed SRM and a general radial structure SRM, and the static torque is calculated. The static torque of the prototype SRM is also measured, and the causes of the error between the analysis and measurement values are discussed.
