Hot topic detection and trend analysis in the field of maritime safety supervision
In the context of global scientific and technological change, the complexity and challenges in the field of maritime safety supervision have been exacerbated by massive data and internationalisation processes, and it is therefore necessary to reveal the hot topics and trends in the field of maritime safety supervision through quantitative analyses, in order to provide support for policy formulation and scientific and technological development. This paper employs the resolution documents of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in the field of maritime safety supervision over the past two decades as the data source. It utilises the methods of named entity recognition and word frequency statistics to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the meeting text data, and employs word cloud diagrams and line charts to visualise the results. The research results show that safety risk management and safety and security are the main topics of interest, with related keywords such as “risk” and “safety and security” being discussed more frequently, while issues such as passenger safety and navigation technology are also highly valued. The study also found that hot topics in the field of maritime safety supervision show four patterns of continuous appearance, periodic appearance, intermittent appearance, and emerging attention, demonstrating the dynamic evolution of hot topics in the field of maritime safety supervision, which provides an important reference for understanding the academic dynamics and future trends in the field of maritime safety supervision.
