Coupling analysis of hazmat road transportation accidents using CN-FRAM

To reveal the coupling relationships between accident causation factors, this study proposes a coupling analysis model that integrates Complex Network (CN) and Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM). It quantitatively analyses performance changes and potential coupling relationships between nodes, elucidating the mechanisms behind hazardous material (hazmat) accidents. Preventive measures are established for key functions and links prone to coupling variations. The results show that: 1) The CN-FRAM method effectively quantifies the critical nodes and coupling relationships within single-factor networks that are likely to cause accidents. 2) The coupling between unsafe distance and improper avoidance is a critical factor in human system coupling variations, while valve damaged is the key function leading to vehicle system coupling variations. 3) The preventive measures set for these key factors can provide references for improving the safety of hazmat road transportation systems. This study contributes to understanding the coupling relationships between accident causation factors. It also provides insights for road traffic safety management.
