Screening of the AO capacity of triathletes' blood in vitro
One of the types of biochemical reserves of the human body is the antioxidant system, which reverses the destructive effect of free radicals and keeps the level of lipid peroxidation (LPO) within physiologically safe limits [1; 5]. Since the level of lipid peroxidation is determined, on the one hand, by the processes of radical and peroxide formation, and, on the other hand, by the state of endogenous antioxidant activity systems (AOS), the assessment of the activity of these systems is of practical importance [3]. Objective: To determine the total antioxidant activity of blood of triathlon athletes and to substantiate the possibility of correcting the state of the AO system with the help of antioxidants. Results: It was found that the average value of LPO inhibition in the presence of the studied blood samples was 18.34%, which indicated a low ability to inhibit the accumulation of TBA-active products in the blood system of athletes in vitro, but at the same time, the blood of athletes had different antioxidant activity to inhibit LPO. Conclusions. As a result of the comparative assessment of the antioxidant properties of the blood of athletes, it can be concluded that it is advisable for athletes to enhance the body's AO capabilities by using a complex of antioxidants as prescribed by a sports doctor.
