Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Process of Training Future Physical Education Teachers on the Example of the Educational Component “Biomechanics”

The article is devoted to the implementation of sustainable development goals in the process of teaching future physical education teachers on the example of the educational component “Biomechanics”. Important issues such as climate change, disaster risk reduction, biodiversity, poverty reduction and sustainable resource consumption, methods of collaborative teaching and learning that motivate students to change their behavior, and educational programs in the field of physical education and sports that promote a healthy lifestyle, reduce the risk of disease and improve mental well-being are analyzed. At present, there is no definitive content of knowledge that should be included in the educational program and curriculum when addressing sustainable development, but indicative learning topics should be used. These may be more or less relevant for each disciplinary area and can therefore be used as well as adapted as “entry points” for further development of sustainability education. Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into biomechanics education and research is an important step towards creating more sustainable, inclusive and innovative approaches in sport and physical activity. It is education for sustainable development that helps to implement these principles in the educational process and contributes to the formation of students' competencies, improving their learning and achievement of standards, as well as develops a responsible attitude to learning and promotes a sense of success in life. For example, the educational component was chosen as an example, for which at first glance it is difficult to integrate most of the Sustainable Development Goals into the content of the discipline. The following Sustainable Development Goals were presented: “Ending Poverty”; ‘Ending Hunger’; ‘Good Health’; ‘Quality Education’, ‘Gender Equality’, ‘Clean Water and Adequate Sanitation’, ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’, ‘Innovation and Infrastructure’, ‘Reducing Inequality’, ‘Partnership for Sustainable Development’. For 10 goals out of 17, common ground was found, which can be implemented in the educational process of the university, which is an important step towards creating more sustainable, inclusive and innovative approaches in the process of training future specialists in the field of physical culture and sports.
