Athletic gymnastics as a health-improving system of physical education of schoolchildren

The article, based on the analysis and generalization of data from literary sources and practical experience, identifies the main features of athletic gymnastics as a health-improving system of physical education for schoolchildren. It is emphasized that athletic gymnastics is a system of exercises with different weights, aimed at improving health, developing strength and endurance, and forming a harmonious physique. It is emphasized that the means of athletic gymnastics can be: bars, dumbbells, kettlebells, shock absorbers, block devices, the weight of one's own body and the body of a partner, stuffed balls, various training devices. Currently, basic strength training is associated with athletic gymnastics. It is noted that the possibility of setting a feasible load, a large range of exercises, the visibility of the results of classes, which is expressed either in increasing strength and increasing muscle mass, or in reducing the fat layer and increasing muscle tone, made athletic gymnastics popular among the younger generation. Schoolchildren make up about 50% of the total number of those who are engaged in athletic gymnastics. Based on the above and pedagogical practice of athletic gymnastics classes, it seems appropriate to specify the concept of "healthy athletic gymnastics" - a system of exercises with weights, aimed at attracting students to regular physical exercises of a strength direction, ensuring high performance during the academic period and does not involve participation in competitions and achieving maximum sports results. The main functions of athletic gymnastics, as a system of physical exercises used for the physical education of students, are as follows: general strength training; special strength training; prevention of hypodynamia and hypokinesia; rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system after injuries. In the process of practicing athletic gymnastics, life situations that require the mobilization of the body's physical and mental resources can be simulated, which is especially important for senior schoolchildren entering the adult world. This is especially clearly manifested in the conditions of an out-of-school educational institution, where the pedagogical process is closer to the realities of life, unlike a secondary educational institution, where athletic gymnastics can and should become an effective means of educating and shaping the personality of students.
