Abstract

The article states that health-preserving behavior is a complex of actions and habits that contribute to the preservation and improvement of physical, mental and emotional health. The risk factors for health disorders that most students face are identified: eating disorders for various reasons (lack of funds, lack of time, etc.); lack of a daily routine, rest and sleep; lack of skills in organizing free time; widespread harmful habits. The criteria for the development of health-preserving behavior of student youth are identified: motivational criterion, practical criterion, evaluation criterion. It is noted that physical education is one of the traditional areas of work on the health protection of students. Physical education classes help develop such important qualities as discipline, the ability to rationally use free time, the desire to achieve higher results, sociability, the ability to analyze one's successes and failures. Health-preserving behavior of student youth is determined by the formed attitude of students to their own health and the health of other people as values; awareness of responsibility for maintaining personal health. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate the importance of physical education in the education and development of health-preserving behavior of student youth. In accordance with the purpose, the following conclusions were made during the study: health-preserving behavior of student youth is determined by the formed attitude of students to their own health and the health of other people as values; awareness of responsibility for maintaining personal health, the ability to resist phenomena that destructively affect the motivation of behavior and, as a result, the health of the individual; skills for strengthening and improving one's health.
