The Influence of Middle School Students' Stress, Communication with Parents, and Motivation for SNS Use on SNS Addiction

This study examines the effects of middle school students' stress, parent-child communication, and motivations for SNS use on SNS addiction. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, hierarchical regression, and mediation analysis were conducted. Results showed that, after controlling for SNS usage patterns, lower parent-child communication and higher motivations for SNS use were associated with a greater tendency toward SNS addiction. Additionally, while stress influenced SNS addiction through parent-child communication as a mediator, sequential mediation effects were not confirmed. These findings provide a foundation for developing targeted intervention programs and integrated strategies to prevent SNS addiction. This study aims to promote a healthy digital media culture and support adolescents' psychological and emotional well-being.
