INFARTO AGUDO DO MIOCÁRDIO: NÚMEROS NACIONAIS DOS ÚLTIMOS 10 ANOS E A CONTRIBUIÇÃO DA INTELIGÊNCIA ARTIFICIAL NO DIAGNÓSTICO E MANEJO
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Brazil, requiring continuous improvement in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This observational and retrospective study analyzed national data on AMI cases from 2014 to 2023 to assess trends in incidence, mortality, and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on diagnosis and clinical management. Data were collected from official databases, including hospital records and epidemiological surveillance systems. The results showed variations in AMI incidence over the decade, with an increasing trend in the early years and relative stabilization more recently. Hospital mortality remained high, particularly in certain regions and age groups. The implementation of AI-based tools demonstrated potential for optimizing early case identification, improving risk stratification, and aiding clinical decision-making, especially in ECG interpretation and adverse outcome prediction. The analysis suggests that AI can contribute to more efficient and accurate care, reducing the time between symptom onset and therapeutic intervention. However, challenges persist, such as the need for greater technological integration into healthcare services and professional training for the use of these tools. The study concludes that AI plays a promising role in enhancing AMI management, but its effective implementation requires structural investments and continuous validation to ensure positive impacts on cardiovascular care in Brazil. While technological advances have shown promising results in some analyses, further studies are needed to ensure these tools are effective and safe for diverse populations, not only in AMI diagnosis and management but also in other cardiac and general health conditions.
