Cancer Nexus: A New Interface for Cancer Research
Greetings to all respectable experts and scholars, I am Yuguang Wang, the Editor-in-Chief of Cancer Nexus, hailing from Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology (Figure 1). My research focus primarily lies at the interdisciplinary of medicine and engineering, leveraging the advantages of light and materials to address clinical challenges in cancer, infection, and tissue defects. For instance, developing light-responsive nanomaterials for regulating the tumor microenvironment and antibacterial treatment, using visible light to control bone defect repair, and developing optical diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Prof. Yuguang Wang in the clinic. Cancer is a globally acknowledged significant health challenge which is influenced by multiple factors such as the aging of global population [1, 2], environmental pollution [3], and detrimental lifestyles including smoking and alcohol consumption [4-6]. Its complexity has transcended geographical and cultural boundaries, leading to approximately 20 million new cases and nearly 10 million deaths annually [7], causing a tremendous social burden. The conquest of cancer is an urgent historical mission that necessitates the gathering and integration of global wisdom. In this vast world full of innovation and transformation, we are delighted to witness the birth of Cancer Nexus, a luminous new star standing at the forefront of international academia. Like a sentinel, it pierces the vast firmament of cancer research, scrutinizing the expansive landscape of this field, and embarking resolutely on the journey to vanquish cancer completely. Cancer Nexus (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/29980623) is an open-access peer-reviewed international journal that publishes high-quality innovative research from global clinicians, biomedical scientists, material scientists, chemists, and machine learning experts within the field of cancer research. The journal focuses on clinical, basic, and translational research of tumors with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary applications such as novel nanomaterials, drug research, artificial intelligence, and the development of new medical devices related to cancer, aiming to establish a bridge for the communication among clinics, laboratories, and artificial intelligence. In the manuscript processing workflow of Cancer Nexus, I am primarily responsible for the following parts: Firstly, steering the overall direction of the journal, focusing on cutting-edge research in clinical oncology, basic science, translational research, and interdisciplinary studies. Secondly, managing the peer-review process to ensure fairness, confidentiality, expertise, timeliness, ethics, traceability, sustainability, and quality control, and making scientifically rational decisions. Thirdly, I also undertake some academic editorial responsibilities, mainly involving the development of novel antitumor nanomaterials such as multimodal integrated tumor diagnosis and treatment, new drug targeting delivery systems, and toxicology and biocompatibility research of anticancer nano-drugs. We aspire to shape this journal into a high-quality academic publication with an international and cutting-edge perspective, dismantling the barriers to knowledge dissemination and building a borderless academic exchange network, enabling every groundbreaking research outcome to reach every corner of the world instantly, and sparking in-depth contemplation and active exploration globally. We provide an international platform for experts and scholars from different fields related to oncology to exchange ideas and showcase their work, making it a multicultural melting pot for thought collisions, a vast prairie for free-ranging innovative ideas, and a sacred hall for scholars from all over the world to move forward together. Here, we uphold the purest pursuit of scientific truth with rigorous attitudes and open minds, welcoming academic wisdom from all over the world. Whether it is profound insights or cutting-edge explorations or whether from the East or the West, they will all weave together on the stage of Cancer Nexus into a web of hope for conquering cancer. We sincerely invite submissions from experts in oncology and related fields worldwide to Cancer Nexus at https://wiley.atyponrex.com/journal/CNX2, wielding pens as swords and data as shields, forging ahead into the unknown depths of cancer research, working tirelessly for the health and well-being of all humanity, and engraving a brilliant academic chapter that belongs to this era!
