Sweatshops at work? An exploration through bibliometric analysis
Sweatshops are widely spread in developing countries and are an international concern that affects workers negatively. This impact includes working for long hours under challenging conditions with low wages, which leads to illnesses, poverty, and social exclusion. This paper also highlighted ethical issues concerning sweatshops that are also emerging. This bibliometric and literature review study seeks to investigate the previous research done on sweatshops, identify major contributors and discuss trends in the study over the years. Conducting a bibliometric analysis with the Scopus database, this study examines the developments and trends in sweatshop research. Based on the SOR model, this research offers a theoretical model for future researchers underscoring working conditions as aspects influencing persons while establishing how health and advocacy are affected. The study also points to essential concerns and suggests the need for extended research on sweatshops and other ethical issues in subsequent research undertakings.
