OBESIDADE E JOELHOS VALGOS EM CRIANÇAS E ADOLESCENTES: UMA REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA

This study aims to analyze, through a literature review, obesity and valgus knees in children and adolescents and ways of treating them. The prevalence of obesity varies in different regions of the world. Risk factors for this disorder include urbanization, reduced physical activity and increased calorie intake, and modern life. Due to its high prevalence and complications, it is important to measure the true Body Mass Index. Skeletal deformities of the knee, such as valgus knees, are one of the most common diseases, especially in children and adolescents. These disorders can be congenital or acquired, the most common being valgus knees, which is a form of knee deformation in the frontal plate, which, if present, is in contact with the knee joints in the case of weight bearing on the knees, leading to the separation of the knees. This is an exploratory literature review study, with a descriptive approach carried out through a literature review. Data will be collected from the following databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and National Library of Medicine (PubMed), from 2010 to 2024. It is important to identify children and adolescents who suffer from obesity and knock knees early, which is essential for them to receive appropriate multidisciplinary treatment.
