Evaluation of the protection of blood cells from mobile electromagnetic waves by a Compensatory Magnetic Oscillator device

Background. It was proved that acute exposure to electromagnetic waves (EW) of mobile phone alter neutrophil and red cells physiology without clinical impact in human health. Objective. Evaluation of the reliability of a commercial protective device in the protection of blood cells against phone’s waves. Method. Blood samples were taken from 30 healthy non-smoking subjects aged from 18 to 40 years; volunteers and samples were exposed to electromagnetic waves of a mobile phone during a call for sixty minutes under controlled experimental conditions. Complete blood count was compared before and after exposure. Results. Results of this study showed significant changes in vivo for a few hematological parameters represented by an increase in the percentage of polymorphonucleus cells and the level of mean hemoglobin concentration (CHCM), as well as a decrease in lymphocyte and monocyte counts and in vitro by an increase in the CHCM, mean platelet volume, neutrophil myeloperoxydase, immature granulocytes count associated to a decrease for of mean corpuscular volume, mean platelet mass, rate of hypochromic and fragmented red cells. Conclusion. Protection of blood cells by anti-waves devices seems to be insufficient and this work requires to be completed by an increase in population size.
