Revision of the Solvency II Directive: An overview of the main changes

This paper provides an overview of the evolution of the Solvency II framework since its entry into effect in EU Member States as per 1 January 2016, including an overview of the main changes that were made subject to the 2018 and 2020 reviews. Furthermore, the paper provides an overview of the main changes that have been included in the Solvency II Amending Directive. Additionally, the paper provides an overview of the development of and amendments to regulatory technical standards, implementing technical standards and EIOPA guidelines, as well as the mandates provided in the Amending Directive to EIOPA to further develop the framework in certain areas.
