Evidences From The Literature on The Motivations, Consequences, and Concerns Regarding The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education

Objective: To determine the motivations, consequences, and concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. Theoretical Framework: The concept of multiple intelligences and its connection to AI were developed to contribute to better integration in higher education. Method: A qualitative documentary review method was used through a Scoping Review with an initial exploratory approach. Content analysis was conducted to identify the growing scientific research on the topic. Results and Discussion: The literature shows that the motivation for using tools like ChatGPT is diverse, enhancing productivity and academic skills. However, the consequences focus on dependency and a decline in critical thinking. Research Implications: A field of analysis is opened regarding the implications of technological modernization in higher education and the curricular adjustments made to integrate generative technology into socio-educational dynamics, as well as the ethical implications that must be considered. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by presenting additional problematic areas related to AI use. The relevance and value of this research are evident in considerations for curricular and ethical design in AI-based learning experiences.
