MEDIACIÓN SOCIAL, MEDIADORES E INTERMEDIARIOS SITUADOS FRENTE AL CONFLICTO SOCIAL (RÍO CUARTO, ARGENTINA, 1989-1990)

This article provides a theoretical contribution to the categories of 'social mediation' and 'mediators,' while examining the role of these third-party actors in a context of social conflict during the years 1989 and 1990, particularly in the locality of Río Cuarto, a city located in the southern part of the province of Córdoba. The aim is to characterize social conflict and identify those who exercised this intervening role through a review and analysis of data from various primary sources, including journalistic, census, and cartographic material. Using a qualitative methodological approach that incorporates quantitative aspects, a set of protests and looting was studied, during which the role of third-party actors stood out. The main conclusions focus on their role, as well as the effectiveness of the implemented practices, highlighting the creation of a broad territorial network that contributed to easing the conflict in the city and its region.
